Monthly Recap – January

Happy Monday!

If you follow me on Instagram you will know that one of my 2022 resolutions & goals was to consistently upload a blog every Monday. As part of this, at the end of each month I will post a Monthly Recap where I share all the going ons in my life – both professional and personal.

January started off with an annual tradition of mine, crafting a vision board for the upcoming year. I first saw this a while ago on @jessicarosewilliams instagram account and I was hooked. There is something uplifting and motivating about putting together visuals of what you would like to manifest – also it is a very calming crafty project. This year my vision board embraced rustic naturalistic images of sea, sand and the greenery of a wild countryside. Modern mixed with the Scottish Highlands and of course always making time to ‘relax and read’.

Each year I set myself a @goodreads reading challenge and for 2022 I want to finish 70 books.

  • Christmas at the Island Hotel by Jenny Colgan
  • Beautiful World, Where are You by Sally Rooney
  • Nomadland by Jessica Bruder
  • If it Bleeds by Stephen King
  • Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty
  • The Body by Stephen King
  • All Our Hidden Gifts by Caroline O’Donoghue

In the lead up to Christmas one of my favourite Instagram accounts @behindcanvas released a festive themed sketching course on her website, drawing the interiors from the movie Home Alone. Of course I did not get my act together and complete if before the end of 2021, however I made sure to finish it in the new year. A practice drawing of the Macalister’s Christmas tree (which I think I will use as a handmade card next Christmas) as well as the kitchen and hallway/ staircase (pictured). The course is no longer available as it was a special festive offer – however if you are interested in interior sketching make sure you check out Behind Canvas as there is a variety of fun and easy to follow classes available. Stephanie has even kindly offered me a 10% discount to share with you all, just enter JALANINTERIOR upon checkout.

I had a HUGE new year 50% off sale on my Etsy shop this month, as well as some custom basket orders including a line face drawing in green thread and this ‘love’ neon pink thread. I thought the ‘love’ basket would be perfect for Valentines day so I created an extra one and listed it on my shop! I also put together some gift boxes – the Valentines Box & a Coorie Box (see below), each with a few of my smaller pieces including hand painted stones, mini macrame wall hangings, natural pine cones and potpourri. I have lots of new product ideas coming up, including some gorgeous pampas grass and pressed flowers – stay tuned.
